The title says it all. Pianist & arranger Bebo Valdés and violinist Federico Britos, two masters of jazz and Latin-American music, join forces to create a musical oasis at the dawn of the 21rst century. This duet date appeals to the senses with the discretion of a hushed murmur and the sweep of a full-blown symphony.

BEBO: The great cuban pianist turns a new page in one of his most intimate recordings. It's though as he were playing for his personal enjoyment in the confines of his own study in Stockholm. The only admissible company is his unflailing musical instinct and the inspired violin of Federico Britos. Nothing else is needed. Halfway through the repertoire he plays homage to his own son Chucho. The younger Valdés can be accorded no higher form of recognition.

BRITOS: He travels to Havana from his native Montevideo in the whirlwind sixties, with the lilting sway of bossa nova on the bow of his violin. There he soaks up cuban music for the masters in all its infinite variety. In the US he becomes concertmaster of the Miami Symphony and records with Cachao and Charlie Haden. Eclectic as always he joins the Hot Club USA and the Haitiando Fusion Ensemble. Danzón by Six is the name of his traditional cuban charanga band. He has recorded in a variety of settings, most notably joining Afro-Uruguayan camdombe with jazz. On featured track here is the danza called "Together" to celebrate his musical rendezvous with maestro Valdés.
