Born and raised in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, Michael is a North California Bay Area based music professional with recording, touring and teaching experience who specializes in Caribbean music. Michael is also a columnist and writer for Bass Musician Magazine, an online bass magazine and community designed For Bass Players and Bass Professionals. Currently the Advanced Bass Instructor at Sylvan Music in Santa Cruz, as an educator he is dedicated to the traditions of afro-caribbean and folkloric music. At Sylvan, located on the corner of Mission and Bay streets in Santa Cruz, Mike offers two fields of study:
