SE LLAMA SABROSO (They Call it Tasty) by Zona Franka (a zona franca is a duty-free port) is an exciting introduction of a style called "Changüí con flow", a fusion of traditional rural changüí with rap and other urban Cuban music. As the name of the group implies, various musical styles from around the Americas are also featured. The songs are Cuban classics re-imagined in fresh, clever and innovative new arrangements that far differ from the original versions.
Beyond Salsa Piano is a history and anthology of the role of the piano in the Cuban rhythm section – from its first appearance to the present. In a broader sense, it’s a study of the tumbao – the art of creating music from layers of repeating rhythmic and melodic phrases. Whether these syncopated figures are called tumbaos, guajeos, montunos, riffs or vamps, this Afro-Cuban concept lies at the heart of nearly every popular music genre from salsa to rock , funk, R&B, hiphop and jazz.

While presented as a set of method books, the series doubles as a history course and record collecting guide for listeners, dancers, and players of instruments other than the piano.

Perhaps the most important goal of the series is to provide a comprehensive understanding of how tumbaos are constructed, their central role in the texture of Latin music of all eras, and the endless possibilities they provide for creative composing and arranging.

Contrabando is a musical project under leadership of Andrés Fernández Ordoñez -former trombonist of the Cuban band Pupy y Los Que Son Son. This large band consists of young Cuban musicians sparkling with new ideas and searching for new ways to express their Cuban music roots.

Contrabando performs "World Music" and is constantly looking for new ideas -mixing Afro-Cuban music with blues, hiphop, reggae and other Caribbean vibes. The band was formed only 4 years ago. The band has peformed with great success in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Portugal and Luxembourg.

The songs have a social context and are dedicated to life, love, relationships and women. Among them we meet Juana, Maria and La Vida -all written by Andrés Fernández Ordoñez "El Paisa".

Contrabando is a band of young Cuban musicians directed by Andrés Fernández Ordoñez (El Paisa) -former trombonist of the iconic Cuban group Pupy y Los Que Son, Son. Before starting with Contrabando, el Paisa also performed with Enrique Alvarez y La Charanga Latina, Manolín, El Médico de la Salsa and Klimax.

The summer concerts of 2005 started with the well known park festivals in Ronse, Halle, Kapellen, Roeselare, Vilvoorde, Deinze and Wevelgem. Next to these concerts they performed in Fiesta Foyer in St-Niklaas, The Square (Astrid Plaza Hotel), Axxes and Café Local in Antwerpen, Gentse Feesten, Puurs Lof, Mest-up Festival in Buggenhout and they took care for already two successive years of the Caribbean sphere in the centre of Mechelen on the "Mechelse Salsa". They were responsible for the entertainment on the brilliant revelation of a new Mercedes type at Automobielbedrijf VDH and took care of the right musical touch on marriages, private and birthday parties. Besides live performances our musicians recorded a trailer for a radio and TV commercial concerning the promotion of a Belgian bank.

Natural de la provincia de Ciego de Ávila, nació el 11 de Octubre de 1978. Desde muy pequeño sintió gran vocación por la música. Cursó sus primeros estudios en la Escuela Vocacional de Arte "Luis Casas Romero"(nivel elemental) y en la Escuela "José White" (nivel medio), ambos en Camaguey. En esta etapa formó parte de varios proyectos en los que incluye la Banda Provincial de Ciego de Ávila , la Danzonera, y el trío Tradiciones Cubanas (este último dirigido por Andrés ).

Entre 1999 y 2002 ingresa el Instituto Superior de Arte, en la Habana, Cuba, graduándose con excelentes resultados. Gracias a su interés por experimentar en corrientes musicales como el Jazz, participa en el concurso Jo-Jazz (2000), obteniendo el tercer lugar. Luego forma el cuarteto de trombones "Ire", donde logra hacer una mezcla de cuatro trombones con dos percusionistas, llevando la música tradicional cubana a un formato de cámara.

Compartiendo escenarios con grandes maestros del trombón -Steve Turre y Generoso Jiménez "Tojo" (padre del trombón cubano)- Andrés ha formado parte de prestigiosas agrupaciones. Desde el 2003 defiende la música popular cubana en Bélgica. Crea el grupo Contrabando, integrado por jóvenes músicos cubanos buscadores de nuevas ideas y caminos para la música cubana. Contrabando es un homenaje a los negros esclavos que sufrieron el tiempo de la colonia. En el 2006 lanzan su primer álbum “en mi habana”, teniendo gran aceptación en países como: Holanda, Alemania, Bélgica, Portugal y Colombia. Actualmente están produciendo su segundo álbum, el cual es una continuación de un camino lleno de nuevas mezclas de ritmos caribeños y el rescate de ritmos cubanos como el Mambo y el Meren-songo.
